It started on the Greek island of Chios…

Chios Mastiha has been treasured in Greece for thousands of years and our aim is to bring you the highest quality natural and pure ivory mastiha that the world has to offer.

Chios is the 5th biggest Greek island - you might not know it as it’s not one of the islands known for tourism. It is however known for one product, one extremely treasured product - Mastiha. This ancient superfood only grows in the south of the island in the Mastiha villages or “Mastihohoria” on Mastiha shrubs (Pistacia lentiscus var. chia) which are actually cultivated into trees for the production of this treasured product.

Though Mastiha trees flourish all over the Mediterranean, only this variety in the unique microclimate of Chios’s southern area produces the valuable aromatic resin. Chios Mastiha was given the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) from the EU, and its traditional harvest is recognized by UNESCO as a living heritage of humanity.

Mastiha has been grown and farmed here for centuries and its the only place on the planet where it grows in this form. Altough there are other resins - this is the only place where the traditional, natural farming and cleaning methods have remained.

Chios Mastiha is also the only resin which has published scientific research indicating its therapeutic benefits.

We work closely with our local farmers who work all year round to cultivate Mastiha. MYSTIKA is pure and natural as we use only natural processes to clean the mastiha. No chemicals are used.

Mastiha is ivory coloured at first but gets more yellow over time due to oxidation. We ensure that the MYSTIKA product you receive will always be ivory coloured as we will only supply you with this season’s yield.

MYSTIKA currently comes in it’s 2 purest forms - either rocks or powder but we plan to offer more products in the future all of which will be based on this ancient superfood.
